This report contains data for highway-rail grade crossing incidents, fatalities and injuries, with the ability to display the data by highway user, state, county, city, railroad, or warning device (e.g. gates, crossbucks, etc.).
This report lists all highway-rail grade crossing incidents and key details, along with the ability to download reports for the form 57 (highway-rail grade crossing incidents), form 71 (highway-rail grade crossing inventory) and/or form 55a (injury/illness summary).
The table below displays the name and URL of both the legacy reports and the reports replacing them on this site, where applicable. The legacy reports are currently located at https://safetydata.fra.dot.gov or https://railroads.dot.gov/safety-data. This new reports are being released throughout 2023. The legacy reports will remain active until May 2024.
This a list of active and inactive railroads, companies, and other organizations related to railroad operations. Organization Type ID = 1 designates a railroad; 4 designates a non-railroad organization (e.g. company, shipper, public entity, etc.). If a code has a blank EndDate, this means the organization is active; a populated EndDate field means the organization is no longer active.
This report contains US-level key statistics, including data on highway-rail grade crossing incidents, fatalities, and injuries; public and private grade crossings; and trespasser incidents, fatalities and injuries.
This report contains a ranking of highway grade crossing incidents by (1) total incidents, (2) total fatal incidents and (3) total injury incidents, along with data for total fatalities and total injuries.
